@solo first of all, im glad that you put up this site for v3x users in the philippines. i just want to know the storage capacity of the v3x. most sites i browsed say at least 70-100 messages. however, my phone starts giving the low memory warning when i only had around 30 messages in my inbox. deleting the outbox messages does not help. by the way, i flashed my phone a few weeks ago. i am now using a "later" firmware (not the latest but later than the one installed on the phone). thanks and more power to this site

Well first of all, The number of saved text and multimedia messages is only limited by the space available in the shared memory. Your shared memory is approximately 61 MB (that is, 64 MB minus Operator pre-installed items when you purchased your phone). Note: Sounds, Pictures, Vidoes, Applications, and Games uses a huge amount of your shared memory if you store them into your Phone! Here are some recommendations: - Make sure you delete unwanted messages from Inbox, Outbox, Browser Messages, Drafts, and Templates.
- Go to Multimedia and move some items from Phone to your TransFlash (Memory Card).
- Observe and see if there is an improvement.
;D

hi thank you for the tips. they did improve the SMS capacity of my phone. i now reach around 50 messages before the memory meter gets full. although i am wondering why it should do that since i have at least 59 MB of free space left in my phone storage. anyway, its a big improvement. ;D

[purple]quasar: Actually, when you flash/flex phone using firware found on sites, like lets say on the motox site, the firware there has already been modded... I think they set the default memory to phone memory and not to the shared memory... You would need to seem edit your phone to put the memory location default back to the shared memory, although I won't be much help on that one since I don't seem edit my phone 'cause it takes too long to set it back right again if the phone screws up and I just don't have much time... And still does not know what values to seem_edit... Hope this help some way![/purple]

lhon0901thanks for the info. im also not inclined to edit-seem my phone. i agree with you--its too much of a hassle if something goes wrong. can you recommend a good firmware that i can use? one with emphasis on big SMS storage memory.

[purple]quasar:
I apologize for that one, but I'm still trying to locate a firmware that will do just that... That's one of the main reason why I'm hesitating on upgrading the firmware, because I fear that the storage capacity for the SMS will be greatly reduced.
If you backed up your phone you can restore it, or if I find a fimware that does not affect the SMS capacity I'll try to post it here...
What bootloader are you running on? You can check it by turning off you phone and pressing * and # before turning it back on... It will take you to bootloader mode... I will need to know what bootloader are you running so that there will be no complications when I post a positive reply in the future... To return back to normal just turn off your phone and turn it back in...
By the way, my bootloader is 682... Hope this helps! ^_^[/purple]

[purple]quasar: Hello!
I just loaded a new firmware from the motox site, and I'll see if this will not affect the SMS storage capacity... I'll post an update as soon as I have a response... Hope this will fix our issue!

[purple]quasar: Good news and bad news! First, the good news: Try going to www.planetmotox.net and go to the V3x link, I think all the firmwares there will restore all your SMS inbox capacity to what it was before... I tried looking at my inbox memory and the counter is still on 1 even though I have already about 30 or 40 messages in my inbox... Bad News: The unlimited recording capability of taking video will be limited to 3 minutes only... Although you can now zoom and set the lighting condition among other stuf... And I can only guarantee that If your firmware is running on bootloader 682 or 0.6.8.2 You can try for yourself and if you don't like the firmware then you can just load the other one you downloaded earlier... Hope this helps!

I'm not familiar with the bootloader concept but the reflash that i have installed has the feature of unlimited video recording with better quality and I think also with unlimited sms storage capacity coz I'm having upto 200+ messages before I upload them to my PC.
Its the latest reflash posted by famonacco. I forgot the site whre I got the file but I'm willing to post it here. The problem is I do not know jow to upload files here.

[purple] Well, maybe here is the link: earlbentley.net/Download3.html @teng: The main reason of why I'm asking what bootlader the others are using is because when you flash a V3x phone with firmware that is running on a different bootloader is that the phone will not turn on (really!), or will turn on but will not display anything... You would have to go to the bootloader mode (done by pressing # and * on the keypad before turning on the phone) and then flashing it with a firmware that is on the same bootloader as your phone... Hope this helps!

[purple] By the way teng, if you have the time, could you please inform me on what bootloader you are running on? You can get into bootloader mode by turning off your phone and pressing # and * before turning it back on... You can go to normal mode by turning off your phone and turning it back on... Thanks! [purple] quasar:
Hello!
Try to go to this site: www.7900novadrive.com/V3/v3x.htm And then download the reflash: R252211LD_U_85.9B.D0R or the .E1P reflash file... This should bring your SMS storage back to the phone memory and not the inbox memory... If not, flash first with S/W Version: R252211LD_U_85.98.D0R.shx found on planetmotox.net and then reflash again with the reflash file above... That will definitely fix it... The only thing is it will take you a good 30 mins with a flash/reflash and only 15 mins to reflash the file.. Try this and see what happens... Hope this helps!
@teng:
Can I ask what is the current s/w version you are running under now? I may just flash/reflash my phone with the same s/w that you are running under so that my video recording will go back to normal, heheh... My video recording capacity has improved, up to an hour, but I would like to get it back to unlimited... And by the way, when you compose SMS, do you also have special characters, like the smiley U? What language is your phone running? You can find it on settings>phone status>other information>language list... Mine is running on 0039... Thanks again!

[purple] At Last!
After a few researching this weekend, I stumbled upon this reflash file on www.7900novadrive.com/V3/v3x.htm, and downloaded this reflash file: R252211LD-ORA_U_85.9B.E2P... Guess what, I now have a pause function also while video recording and SMS capacity is still on the phone memory! Whew! At last, mukhang nakita ko na din 'yung hinahanap ko...
